I always wondered if he was telling the truth about that, since, you know, he couldn't really admit it if he were gambling in the States...

You need to understand that they don't do regular text in Canada. It's a whole different culture. Like when the pilgrims landed in the US, they railed against government interference in reliion. In Canada, it was grammar.

They rejected the idea thet caps should only be used at the start of a sentence or for proper nouns.. They said "fuck it! LETS USE CAPS FOR ALL or not at all". It's the first Canadian amendment.

The second amendment concerns "apostrophe + s", it's a long amendment, but to summarize, there are no rules. it's a weapon. Use when then enemy least expects and never when they do.....

The third is to do with l33tsp34k being a compulsory third language

And the fourth concerns the use of punctuation for dramatic effect

CLE 3.5 @ STL
so stl got killed last week but with s. jackson most likely returning i believe this will be a close game and maybe stl picks up their first win of the season. clevlands pass rush is one of the worst in the league so maybe just finally bulger gets some time to throw to his weapons. no injuries for stl wouldve had them contending in the nfc west.
TAKE STL

DET @ CHI 6.5
tommie harris is back and that little run game that the lions had last week will not be there against the bears. dont be fooled by the bears slow start on d cuz they are still up there amongst the best in the league. with brian griese getting in a groove i see them scoring some points. with a touchdown to cover the spread hester could be that x factor that wins the game by a td.
TAKE CHI

IND 7.0 @ CAR
this is a mismatch everywhere. indys offence will run and obviously pass well. indy stops the run with bob sanders and their pass rushers will get to the slow and old vinny.
TAKE INDY

NYG 10.5 @ MIA
ronnie brown is out for the season and the miami defence is not the same anymore. that equals no d and no offence. forget about the pats going 16-0 m more excited about the dolphins going 0-16. the giants will get up early in this game and the giants leading in the sack department should add some more numbers to that. maybe if they were playing at home id give a little more thought... who am i kidding the dolphins get smoked even if they were playing in the arctic.
TAKE NYG (FAV)

OAK @ TEN 7.5
i cant see the oakland raiders scoring that many points in this game. the titans d is playing excellent this year despite that fourth quarter comeback from the texans. with young expected to play they will finish more drives this week with tds. the raiders d has slipped drastically from last year and in tennessee the titans get an easy win.
TAKE TEN

PHI @ MIN 1.5
MY FAVORITE GAME OF THE WEEK. adrian peterson will run the ball but it wont be enough. the eagles will put 8 in the box not even worrying about t. jackson throwing the ball. a couple tds and a fg should win the game for philly.
TAKE PHILLY (FAV)

PIT 3.5 @ CIN
carson palmer will have his best game of the year. this is pretty much a do or die game for the bengals and i cant see them losing at home in this division game rivalry. sure the steelers put up some points but it wont be enough for carson n crew. call me crazy but im takin the bengals. OH YEAH its also one of my favs.
TAKE CINCY (FAV)

BUF @ NYJ 2.5
this is going to be a really close and good game but the jets will end any bills fans hopes who think they have a shot at the playoffs. the jets lost a heartbreaker earlier to them this year but at home, with the pressure on chad, the jets win by a fg.
TAKE THE JETS

JAK @ TB 4.5
with garrard out this makes this pick easier. the bucs have been playing great d this year and with no qb throwing the ball it would make life much easier stopping the run. jeff garcia has been playing mistake free football and that is going to be key in this game. this is going to be a low-scoring affair but even lower for the jags. final score 15-9 for tampa.
TAKE TB (FAV)

NWO 3.0 @ SF
they are stringing some wins together and in a evenly matched division they still got a shot. alex smith returns for san fran but that doesnt matter. their offence is horrible this year and their d is in the middle of the pack. new orleans strings on another win on the road.
TAKE NWO

WAS @ NE 17.5
this might sound crazy but i think they are going to do it again. best pass defence but not good enough for bradys weapons when he spreads the field. i also see the skins not scoring more than 14. their longest td reception has been for 14 yards. new england wins big at home.
TAKE NE

GB @ DEN 3.0
denver pass d will slow down brett favre and the running doesnt need any slowing down due to the fact that it is already slow. jay cutler is getting on a roll and i see him rolling his way to victory at home on monday night. travis henry will also have a good game as denver will beat gb in the trenches.
TAKE DEN (FAV)

Just to remember the long term bets still running here:

NFL

Superbowl

Indianapolis Colts = 5.50
San Diego Chargers = 13.00
Washington Redskins = 67.00
Philadelphia Eagles = 67.00

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

N.H.L

Eastern Conference Champion

Enjoy it while you can, cause this Crosby, Malkin, Gonchar, Whitney show won't go on forever... 2-3 years maximum.
The Thrasher although off to a slow start and having an under par defence, are capable of coming to form and dominating.
Hossa and Kovalchuk are the best 1-2 in the NHL IMO.
Ovechkin and Semin rank #2.
Pittsburg + Washington will dominate this weak Eastern conference for the next 3 years.

Pittsburgh Penguins = 6.50
Atlanta Thrashers = 26.00
Washington Capitols = 34.00

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Western Conference Champion

3 years ago when I said that Chris Pronger is by far, the best hockey player in the world, people laughed at me.
He took the Oilers to the stanley cup (it paid 100/1).
Then he won it with the Ducks last year.
So, they've lost Neidemayer, but they've added Schneider in his place.
Anaheim remains the best team in hockey, don't believe the hype.
The San Jose Sharks look to be their toughest opponents in the conference.
I'm sure some of you are chuckling at me listing the LA.Kings.
The truth of the matter is that this team is elite, and for years to come they will be contenders for the stanley cup.

Anaheim Ducks = 4.50
San Jose Sharks = 8.00
Los Angelos Kings = 51.00

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Stanley Cup Winner

I expect the Anaheim Ducks to win the cup again this year as they are superior to the Penguins who look most likely to be facing them in the final.

Anaheim Ducks = 8.00
Pittsburgh Penguins = 13.00
San Jose Sharks = 13.00
Atlanta Thrashers = 51.00
Washington Capitols = 67.00
Los Angelos Kings = 101.00

It wouldn't be a sports site in any case. It would be a gambling thread in a sports forum on a general discussion site.

OK, here's the deal for you pickers, then:

Rule 1: starting this week, if you get better than 55% over the next four weeks, you can stay. Under 55%, and your accounts and IP addresses will be banned. That's fair isn't it? It's the middle of the season, so things should be predictable by now.

W.H.I.P. is immune to this, if he decides to put picks here, because he achieved emeritus status with his *incredible* percentage last season.

Rule 2: You may negatively comment on another picker's picks, history, posting style, etc. However, if you achieve a lower percentage than that picker on the following week, your account is banned.

Rule 2a: If you negatively comment on someone who is not a picker, such as lumberjim, lumberjim may issue a set of picks for the week and if his percentage is better than yours, your account is banned.

Rule 3: NO CAPS or big font sizes because, come on, that's just obnoxious.
