Yeah, two of my former roos turned ugly on me, but I never got friendly with either of them when they were chicks. The two I've had since then got a lot of attention as chicks and turned out to be very nice roos who never gave me or my neighbors (they care for my birds when I'm out of town) a bit of trouble.
It also depends on the breed. I can tell you that Americauna roos are real shitheads; leghorns and dorkings, not so much.  "Dorkings." *snicker* |

Hesitating to join this convo,I have to ask ... beyond dorkings, are there any poultry breeds where the cocks actually protect their hens and aren't total dicks?
