Colorized old photographs. Some are meh. Some are WOW! All are better full screen.

And I loved the second part of the sound track. It's passages from an 1860-later Irish immigrant's letters from home.

Photographers have always had fun playing with super wide-angle lenses, but German videographer Jonas Ginter has found a way to conquer the world with them. At least, that's what it looks like from his latest video, which miniaturizes our planet to an adorable scale. The video's known as a stereographic projection — it's named for a technique that turns a spherical surface into a 2D plane. Before going for a bike ride, Ginter first needed to make a camera rig that could capture nearly 360-degree video, and to do so he stuck six GoPro cameras together with a custom-designed, 3D-printed mold. The end result is a wonderfully quirky perspective. It's not the first time we've seen this technique in action (some are even using Google Street View images to make similar videos), but Ginter's final product is impressive.
It's a pretty neat little video. I highly recommend going to Vimeo to watch in full screen.

Neat find, Grav. That guy has a ton of videos, I'm going to show the kids when they get home today. The cat-dropping one was pretty interesting too.

I noticed that balloon behavior when I was in high school picking some up. I drove like a maniac all the way home, stopping hard, and accelerating fast, just to confirm my observations, and had it all figured out by the time I was home.

I love Smarter Every Day. Been a while since I checked in. I need to see what's new.

My favorite was the Prince Rupert in a Can drop. Or something like that.
