That's why "baby" makes a lousy term of intimacy for me. When I hear it, it reminds me of the risk I'm about to take and makes me less inclined to take it.

the only reason i think it would be better to have my own baby rather than adopt is because i would love to see a little creature that had myself and my husband's features. we could be like "look, he has your eyes...oh, he has your nose.."etc.

Well - knowing since I was about 13 that I will never be able to have children "of my own" and being that my mother was adopted - if I had ever wanted kids (I think there was a couple of months when I did - then that urge went away) adoption was always my option.
