Good grief... a Terminator 3 thread quickly evolved into the a TTowers thread =P

My recommendation for really enjoying the LOTR series to the fullest, is try to separate the movies from the books. Think of it as an entirely different series instead of a visual interpretation of one that you are already used to. Some characters will be beefed up, others will be slimmed down. To keep yourself from getting disappointed with any of these minor bits, just approach it as a whole new exerience.

That being said...

TTT was one of my all time favorite movies. Wow... in the scene where Treebeard crests the hill, sees the damage done and calls the ents to war.. and then procedes to inform his wee hobbit friends that the whole effort may be futile, it may result in the demise of all ents, but the time has come for them to move....

Talk about powerful.

Can't wait for the 3rd installation.

yeah, sorry about the threadjacking, juju. but really, its your fault. you didnt have to mention that you saw the two towers.

i do think arnold is something of a joke nowadays. i think it started when he did 'twins'. i havent seen the trailer for t3, but i assume he says the line quite seriously. its one thing to poke fun at yourself. its quite another to not realize youre doing it.

back to the two towers. riddil, i agree that its best enjoyed as separate from the books, but i really cant get over assigning the clown role to gimli. i did get a chuckle when he said something like 'we dwarves are natural sprinters. quite dangerous at a short distance'. i always identified with gimli. he wasnt the fastest and he never had much finesse, but he was a fucking brute. and they dont get that across very well in the movie.

I remember that the first time I saw FOTR I really disliked it, now after watching it a half dozen times I love it. I kind of felt let down once again when I saw TTT but I'm guessing that next time I see it I'll love it. I think it has to do me looking for the omissions and additions the first time and then the next time I see it I can just accept the ommisions and appreciate the additions.
