Sorry Grav...

Really though, look at how Indiana is so different from Illinois and Ohio on that map. The same is true with the red state/blue state maps too.

I disagree with you Grav. It's all a matter of semantics I suppose, and no-one should be told what their own sexual orientation is, but here's my two pence worth.

If you are interested in the same sex for occasional slap and tickle you can still define yourself as straight. To me, bi-sexual is someone equally comfortable in having a full on relationship with a man or a woman to the exclusion of everyone else. I personally do not believe you can define yourself as bi-sexual if you are unable to fall in love with both genders.

To me, sexual preference is not just about sex.

Yeah but it does correlate with conservative/moderate/liberal maps too, which makes sense when you are dealing with how people think about homosexuality.

Yes, but the lines are never that drawn. You can't tell me that the second you cross a state border (or even a county border) that the social mores just change drastically. I realize the whole point is to illustrate the, um...point...but it's no better than a USA Today graphic. Graphics should illuminate, not be the story. And this one illuminates next to nothing we didn't already know, and barely illustrates that which we did already know, at that. In other words, OKCupid isn't the firecracker journalistic dynamo we might have originally thought.
