Hey, I'm no dog expert and would NEVER interfere with a dog owning family.
I'm just a knee-jerk dog shrugger-offer. Don't think I'm assuming the dogs are a danger. I'm just not that keen on them id all. I'm a cat-hair-covered-lonely-old-bint.

Not to worry. He terrorizes the dogs; not the other way around.
And they are VERY friendly. Both were Katrina rescues. The female (grey one) has hip problems because she was kept in a too-small crate when she was young after the flood.

I've seen some good dogs and some dogs that I wish would get hit by cars.
Our neighbors are nice people, but they have a really mean dog, and it gets out sometimes. There's nothing quite like being barked and growled at by somebody else's dog when you are just trying to get into your own house, or out of your own car in your own driveway. My daughter was trying to walk home from another neighbors house, and was accosted by this mean dog that had gotten out. She had to backtrack and walk around the block and come in the back door because the dog was being so aggressive. We called the neighbors and they came over and apologized and got their dog, but it really sucks. It happens once or twice a year. They let the dog out into their back yard and it gets out somehow and chases people. It's enough to give all dogs a bad name, which isn't fair, but there you go. |

Oh, I thought it was the size issue. I do like dogs, but am really repulsed by the aforementioned yippy snappy shaky breeds. They'll bite your face off if so inclined.
![]() Yet Ava, when she was about 3, walked over to Jack (the golden) and plopped down on him as he was sleeping on the floor, and he woke and looked at her for a second, and they both went to sleep. Same dog ran off a wildish dog that came near my dad when dad had taken Jack to his land for swimming. Dad couldn't believe it: this gentle dog? Jack just calmly herded the other dog off like "yeah, I don't think so buddy." He was protecting my father. Now THAT's a dog. ![]()

Heh...Jack has about 15 acres in the back, but knows exactly where to stop, even in the front and on the sides. He'll come to see who you are when you pull in, but even with strangers just keeps a wary eye until he sees that this person is OK with the family. Like his predecessor, Zeke, he can run loose just fine: he's never going to chase anything or go beyond his boundaries, or bite or growl or be an obnoxious jerk.
But I bet if that family were threatened in any way, Jack would light in as if he'd been fighting all his life. I must be spoiled, I can't imagine owning any other kind of dog. Yeah, I love my dog nieces/nephews too.

![]() Too bad they pass that on to their dogs. There are no bad dogs only bad owners. Same with children they only learn what they are taught, or think they can get away with...
