Very few young socially liberal conservative is going to buy into that.

American culture and views are changing and conservatives need to learn that social conservationism is over and without an extreme external event, cannot be used as a platform to get votes. My generation is going to completely legalize gay marriage and for a political party to go against that is only digging their own grave.

But, I think this is just a pathetic attempt by Steele and the conservative party to pretend they can get the "best of both worlds" without actually picking a side. They won't be able to stall forever. They will have to make a decision soon or a rouge Republican will take over the party.
