Doesn't Kristin Minter say that to Dennis Hopper in The Apostate? "French wine, French cigarettes, I'll think you're French or something."

Or maybe Nutsa Kukhianidze says it to Nick Nolte in The Good Thief.

Even at retirement events alcohol is no longer permitted...

Thus far, our superintendent has received a hunk of cheese from one of our vendors. Beyond that, my AR girl brought in a tray of awesome homemade candies.

That's it, though. The boss claims he is going to take us all out for Mexican on Wednesday. Corporate used to give cash bonuses. Two years ago I got $75 and a ham. Last year I got $37.50. This year I get a hoodie with the corporate logo on it. Oh, any my pay cut is effective with the check I get the day after Xmas.

This year, I have spent the least amount on Xmas that I have spent in probably 30 years...less than $350 total. Suffice to say that no one is getting much, and that which they are receiving is pretty cheap.

Here's to an improving economy.

I don't get paid for what I do, and I don't get goodies either. but I did get a load of verbal appreciation. Why is it, though, that we generally only think to give "goodies' to those we already pay for their services. I wish I had got some choccies for the lady who organizes the ice hockey schedule. But I did make a point of telling her how much we appreciate her a few weeks ago. i think I'll bring her a little something in the new year.

One of the nuthouses we refer to sends a nice basket. I managed to get two of the chocolate covered pretzels before the ambulance crew got to it.

After that I had some Goldfish crumbs and the beef jerky.

Nobody ever gets desperate enough to eat those cheap-o chocolate covered cherries.

I love chocolate covered cherries. (I hope that's not grounds for admission.)

I love GOOD chocolate covered cherries. Trust me, these were cheap-o chocolate covered cherries. I think that using the words "cherry" and "chocolate" is giving this product the benefit of a doubt that it does not deserve.

Waaay lower brow than either of those references and I screwed it up anyway.

from Sam Kinnison:

"Lick the alphabet. It makes you appear creative, it's an easy diagram to remember, it's like "aaaaa.... beeeee.... ceeee." She'll think you're from fuckin' Europe or somethin: "OH GOD, WHERE'D YOU LEARN THAT, OHHH," and you're going "A, B, C, D, E, F, G."

Meh--Europe, France...same thing.
