150,000 people die every day.

I'm sure at least a few of them you would find attractive.

Should I make a thread for them all and name them...then can I declare that I am sad that someone I knew of and appreciated died?

Ok better luck with the song the next celebrity death that I actually care 'bout!
I have met HLJ but not HL. I know I care that Heath Ledger died, and I am sure I would care if HLJ died. Does that make things any more confusing for anyone?

They won't, however, cause character appearance continuity problems, should the Joker appear in any Batman sequels.

Well caser...his initial question was about people you have never met vs. people you have never met....(dying) and why is one more important than the other.

I care that Hitler is dead. (I prefer it) Never met him. Yes I do care if people I do not know personally are dead or not.

Because I care.

I don't think you are confusing caser. I think HLJ is trying snuff out "celebrity hype" when people really are disappointed. I think he was an awesome actor and will be disappointed to not see him in new films.

I have always liked Jack Nicholson and will disappointed when he kicks the bucket too. He's getting old.

I wish Susan Sontag and Hannah Arendt were alive too though...so I'm not the best to speak to about these things.

I think it's just a shame. He was only 28, with a young baby, and would have had a great long career. I've liked him ever since he came out in Roar. And for anyone who doesn't think he was talented, compare his roles in Brokeback Mountain and the Brothers Grimm. Amazing range there.

I'm more angry that he carried on the way he did and basically killed himself, albeit not intentionally. Especially with such a bright future and a young child. The acceptance of this type of behavior is maddening. Talented? - absolutely,so what? He fucked up & now he's dead. All that talent wasted, just like Belushi, Candy, Hartman and several others.

that's why people are disappointed when celebs die. it's selfish. they will not be entertaining us anymore. it's kind of cold to think of it that way....but really....it's the truth.

Apparently he had pneumonia. It's possible it was an accidental overdose. People will know more tomorrow after the autopsy.

It's very sad that he's left behind a beautiful daughter, especially considering the way he spoke about her in interviews.

I still find it less surprising when a celeb dies of an OD, but that doesn't make the circumstances any less sad.

Hmm, lessee...there's about a hundred or so relatively active Cellarites. If each of us wrote a little something about everyone who died each day, that'd only be 1500 brief obits we'd each need to cover. Tough, but doable.

pneumonia? where are you coming up with that?

If it's not on CNN, I don't believe it.

Actually, what rang true for me were the comments about the effect of playing the joker, and how he wasn't sleeping at all because of it. Easy to make a mistake; or think, well one pill works okay, more pills would work better.

Easy, but dumb. He never struck me as being the brightest bulb.

I am with you. I liked the Heath Ledger that I have seen acting out characters on a screen. A limited view of who he probably was as a person, but I liked it, nonetheless. All of us limit the amount of ourselves that we present to the world.
