After Dakota and I watched the first clip, we both determined that our kids, at their current young ages, would never get away with this behavior. It seems like in the well-meaning attempt to give their kids respect in being their own human beings, some parents forget to give their kids necessary boundaries. I believe that an extreme in either direction is dangerous.

The AMA should call it Ineffective Parenting Disorder.

I know a kid who treats his Mom this way. At our house he is used as an example. It works well.

Interestingly, that's what we call it.

Sometimes, though, you do get a case of Bad Teenager, Not Otherwise Specified.

My kid has been grown up since about 3 years of age.

I missed all that.

I just watched it, and while I can see how these games are addictive, it is what you make of it. I play WoW, but I am also 23 years old, don't live with my parents, and I still juggle a social life and job just fine. That usually means I only play once or twice a week, but hey. If you don't want to get addicted then don't let yourself. It is that simple. If it wasn't WoW, it would be something else with these kids/people.

That kid was way out of line the way he was treating his parents. I agree with wolf, if they had stopped that horrible whining early on it wouldn't be a problem now.
