What makes post acceptable verses posts that are ignored or just not seen?

How in hell does anyone know if their post has been read or not, unless it's the only post in the thread?
Read or seen, same thing.... how do you know?
If you're question is really, not what makes a post "acceptable", but what makes a post get responded to, then;
Quote:
Did you ask a question?
Did you disagree with someones post?
Did you take a controversial, unusual, or unpopular position on something?
Am I not understanding what you're asking? I'm not trying to give you a hard time, but I can be real obtuse sometimes, so smack me if I'm not getting it, ok?

I think it has a lot to do with how people think/communicate.
There are a lot of people who really dislike me because I tend to be very concise.
They interpret this to be arrogance. Nothing could be farther from the truth, I enjoy being shown the error of my ways and will readily admit it when I am wrong. I like a good debate and it is very rarely personal with me. I can only think of once on here that it was so and I apologized for it.
People read shit into what they read, it is their own stuff... one should not sweat it.

It is just my lame attempt at making a smart thread again.

I am not really asking. I am musing. I read alot of threads I don't respond too as well. Some people I don't 'see' at all.AI gloss over particular users. I am sure everyone does this to some extent. I wondered to myself when I saw the word 'lookism' if there is such a thing on the internet. 'Nah, I say I don't really think there is besides I hate words like that' I said. I muse again thinking it must be some asthetic appeal that keeps a person reading some peoples posts but ignore others all together. I keep reading the same peoples posts regardless of whether I post. I agreed that sometimes posting just to let a person know you were there, agree or disagree would feel silly.

Sometimes I subcumb but mostly this is a fluff thread masquerading as a philosophical thread. I don't really need an answer. I just wanted peoples opinions. I should have created a poll thread instead.

oh and I know being a moderator you probably read everyones posts regardless of any asthetic appeal. They probably all are boring after a bit.

I have responded way more than I wanted too. It just isn't that important. Let's put a lame thread to rest. I hope you are clear as mud now Bruce.

This is what my signature line is saying RK so I get what you're saying. I don't think you come off arrogant btw.

Actually it's not lame, to me anyway.
No I don't read 'em all, some I scan for unfamiliar names(posting) and check them out. Parenting doesn't hold much interest, nor a couple others.

But the point of what ingredients does a thread need to take off for pages, is very interesting.
For me, certain people starting a thread attracts like honey attracts a bear. The thing is, it isn't always for the same reason. Some it's because I'm almost guaranteed, I'll disagree with them. Some because I usually learn things from them. Some to see what kind of shit they're stirring. And I don't go near tw's unless I've got some time to kill.

I think a title that clearly indicates the subject but still peaks curiosity keeps people from leaving disappointed.
Polls can go either way depending if there is an option that agrees closely with my position.
Probably subjects your discussing outside the Cellar, like current events, and you want more opinions would look interesting.

But these are all personal points and flat out guesses, because I really don't know what make a thread take off. As often as not the thread keeps going because of thread drift rather than the opening post, I guess.

Oh, any something suggesting sex, like a double entendre in the title, probably helps get it read at least.

I'd love to have some input as to what you think the recipe is for an enticing thread. Please.

wow, thanks for the imput! Now I know what you find pleasing!

Well these days I am all about the flowers or picture blogs. I love philosophy. I am not very clear headed these days so I fail at my attempt at clarity. Or maybe I just noticed :P I used to like Christianity and political debates but my stance on those hasn't changed since way back so I just usually read them now.

I love threads about who someone thinks is the greatest drummer, guitarist or the best love ballad. I love when threads diss those top 100 guitarist lists. I love horoscopes, mythology, books, movies, paganism, witchcraft, and art. I think the women here are great. I think Brianna is smart and I love reading her threads. I like Maggie's way of spicy responding. I love Sundae Girls good hearded humor. I like DanaC she is a good political thread responder. I like alot of the other women here. They seem to attract my attention when they are in a thread whatever the thread is about.

As far as men go I like RK for his pictures and willingness to debate. I like when guys posts photos. ( I don't know why)
The political threads I tend to gloss over. I like looking at the quotes, tag lines, jokes and wtf photo page.

I mostly like to read others having a real intellectual debate. That's what my initial attraction was to this place.

Stalking women on the internet again I see. You should take the advice of those of the mental health proffessionals who identified you as a child and go on psyciatric meds. I know you have an adversion to them but your really a sick man.
