That looks like a marples socket firmer chisel, nearly a mortise chisel but a wee bit slimmer. A favorite shipbuilder's chisel.

Our three-year-old has been feeding the dogs for some time, he also likes to pay for stuff, give tickets, and is an all around "helper".
