If we come into the IOtD by the blog view, you make a penny or something?

All this Traffic can some times be more productive

than Iran squatting on their oil,

....and causing all my 401k mutual funds to become deficient as to where they should be.

@UT: Seriously, how much $$$ would it take to expand the infrastructure of this site to the point that it could comfortably carry out message board functions while simultaneously handling all the new incoming image traffic? I would be willing to contribute to a project like that. Maybe you could start a plegde drive, as it seems the ever-increasing traffic is not going away?

I *think* if I had 2GB of high-quality memory this could be fixed in an hour. If I had known this was going to happen I would have bought it on Monday. I always think, well, the flood will be over before I actually get the hardware...

The other option is to move the database to server B, but it will take a three-hour downtime to do that. Maybe over the weekend.

We have had a number of really costly changes in the last six months and the tippers have been generous and have covered the cost. The current connection is quite expensive and tippers almost cover it. The B server, where the actual images are, has pushed out 180GB of traffic in the last 5 days!!!! It is batshit insane. But we would NOT have been able to manage it on any previous connection. If this happened at the last place it would have cost $thousands and I would have had to shut that thread down at the very least.

There were like 1300 guests a minute ago, and then all of a sudden I had all this elbow room in here!

That's bizarre because I was on here then responding to another thread. It should have said TWO members, anyhow. We're back up to 1300 or so at the moment, I beleive.

Rebooting clears the most active number.

We are linked by collegehumor.com, and they are killing us.

I am trying to figure out URL rewriting so they can all be shot to the blog view.

The Cellar's not doing so bad when you Google "foam." We're on the first page, right after Icynene expanding foam insulation, and before Clark surfboard blanks.

I'm a bit confused as to why everybody's hammering us.... is The Cellar the original source for these photos? Hasn't anybody else posted their own copies of these?

We're down to 550 visiting and performance is tolerable again.
