So is the Goobah a little closer to home, or is it Cherry Hill Goobah?

I changed my used title form "Lexus?" because i was concerned that when i gave the coworker that needed it the list of the websites i need, she might go in and look at it. My email is also lumberjim, so it wouldn't be hard for her to see it.

I've been speaking with the people that are opening a Lexus dealership 15 minutes from my front door. I had a 2nd interview Wednesday. Met with the owners. I'm pretty sure the GM wants me, because he said so, but it's a matter of whether the owners want to pay me enough to leave the gig i have right now. i'm should know within the week. I've been vassilating because it would be a pay cut, and who knows how well I could do selling warranties on Lexii? The job i have now is a rare and rewarding one, but extremely demanding and high pressure. tough to leave the people too.

i wasn't even looking, but a guy that worked at Cherry Hill now works with the folks that are opening this new store......he called me, and introduced me to the GM.

Crazy, really, cuz i've seen this place being built, and thought, " wow, that would be a cool store to work in. It's huge, and gorgeous....but I'm sure they're bringing a finance guy with them." well. they're not.

i think I hope i get the offer.

do you mean me, specifically? or just in a general sense?

I'm half afraid that i will get the offer, half hoping. It's a motherfucker. It was easy for me to make the last move compared to this. I've gotten used to making what i'm making. this would still be good scratch, and better by a lot than Family Jeep was, AND the hours and pace would be more like it was at Family. The owners seemed EXTREMELY conservative.....maybe too much so. the showroom i visited to interview is way sedate. i wonder if I'd be bored silly or feel stifled. i was under the impression that i'd get some type of offer on the second interview, and was almost relieved when they said they had not yet discussed the details of the pay plan they could offer, and that they'd get in touch within the week.

They made it very plain that they were more interested in having perfect customer satisfaction than making an extra $100 or two per copy. It kind of makes me wonder if they'll go with a more timid and ...affordable candidate.....if there are any other candidates.......the guy that referred me hasn't mentioned any other interviews....so....

I just keep thinking of how cool it would be to sleep until 7:45 and get home before 9:30 on a regular. And the Finance manager of the current store was griping about gettng out at 7:30 on Saturday ( a rarity for her) I left at 9PM this past Sat, and got home at 10:30.....AND IT WAS SLOW.

I guess when I weigh it all out, the free time and location might be worth taking the chance on this place.

Good luck with the job! Make the decision that's best for you, not just the one that has the best money.

All that aside ... they're probably netnannying you at work because one of the salesmen talked about the porn he's been surfing on company time. Within earshot of a supervisor, saleschick, or secretary who does not like him.

Or he forgot to minimize a window and a customer saw it. Some assortment of the above is why we got 'nannied.

I'm sure I don't have to tell you this, LJ, but don't forget to calculate the actual cash value of the fuel and time you spend on your current long commute. Be sure and apply an appropriately high dollar per hour rate to the basically priceless additional time you will be able to spend with your beautiful family.

I guess as a finance guy you get no commission, right? I would still think that selling more expensive cars would be a better deal for you in general. But anyway, I hope you get a good offer!

And you get a Lexus even if you have to give up saying "cock"

Whatever they/you do, I hope it works for you in the end.

actually, i work on pure commission at present. this place will have some salary, and some guarantee, but i think it will be commission based.

and, yes, bruce...i'd be driving a lexus. big shot, hey?

seems unreal to me. the more i think of it, the more i think they'll pass.

it would just be too good to be true.

You're the best one to tell whether this change would be for the better. I hope you at least get the offer, then you can decide.

I will add this, though. The older my kids got (and the older I got), the more I appreciated my time with them, helping them with homework and being involved in their lives. I am fortunate that my current job allows me enough flexibility to be there for them.

Good luck.

update. for those who care, i passed on the offer from chester springs goobah. the payplan seemed like it would top out at my minimum, and the guy running the place left me underwhelmed. my current boss has a clue, and the place wins. guess the grass isn't always greener.
