Bruce seems to be the one who has hit upon the truth of the matter. This something that needs mentioning. We blame the poor for their health problems, but make it impossible for them to afford healthy food. There are 182 grams of carbs in those ramen noodles. Thats enough to feed a family for a couple of meals. Now try and feed that same family 5 blueberries a meal. Oh, and making note of the fact that he left the food out for animals makes me cranky. Just eat it already, that's the point of buying food. OK, I will stop ranting now. Thank you for your time. |

My older son is learning just how difficult it is to eat well and healthfully on no money and little time. It's a real eye-opener for him to actually have to THINK about what he's going to eat and how and where and when (and how to pay, etc.)
I took some food up to him on Thursday - baked chicken breasts, homemade chicken salad, high protein bread (4$/loaf!) - he's learning a lot more than just math and computers up there in columbus.

I can get a bag of 5 (1 day old) bagels for $1 at Bread and Bagel in Cherry Hill NJ. If you toast them, you'd never know they're not fresh....
Usually lots of other day old pastry and stuff i can't eat there too. I like to keep a meal under $3 during the week. I eat a lot of wraps with cheap lunchmeat. |

I do. It's very easy to pass for those with Crohn's disease. It's not too bad on white bread with a little mayo and mustard.

Depends on where you live. Downtown is more expensive than suburbs etc.

That's what you get for going to the upscale joints. Here, 99 cents at Burger King. Apparently in New Mexico, in 2008, they were at McD's too.

Pete, try laying off the mustard and cutting back on the (fat) mayo.
That might make things better. Oh, and get checked for Grave's Disease while you are at it.

Are you implying lips and peckers have no nutritional value?
