Henry Mancini was a god, one of a very rarified strata of composers/film scorers who have left an indelible mark on music.

Michel LeGrand, while very capable, is not really even in the same league with Mancini, Goldsmith, and others who occupy the top .005% of such artists, but how awesome to have been under the tutelage of such a genius as Mancini.

I agree. I was lucky enough to see him some years ago at a dinner/concert in Dayton. When he played Moon River I got teary-eyed. When Newhart's show came on (the one in Vermont) I made everyone hush during the opening theme. What a talent that man was.
