Yeah glatt, sounds like you done good by her. I can't even comprehend what it's like for a mid-teen in public any more, guess that's part of the parenting thing, letting them learn and experience while knowing when a guard against wolves and grizzlys is needed.

I'm glad she has a cheap Tracphone. She called when she got the ticket, and called now that the show is over and she's getting autographs. So we know she's doing OK and could drive downtown and rescue her if she needed it. And she'll call when she gets to our metro station. It's a mile away and dark and raining now, so I'm happy to pick her up from the metro stop.

Yes, that's the difference these days. Being connected gives her some safety with her freedom, and keeps you sane during the process.

Well, she's been back for about an hour. Talking pretty much non-stop. She's really proud of herself.

And over breakfast tomorrow she'll say, "Oh, I'm going to NYC next weekend."

Good job Mr and Mrs Glatt. You've done well, and it shows.

I'm not his parent, but if Dana can refer to her younger brother as "our kid" per UK conventions, then I can too.

So my brother's new single release has a little feature in Texas Monthly, which is a not-small publication in the area. Warning: there is a super-douchey quote from my brother in the article, but that's who he is and we love him anyway. The song itself is embedded at the bottom of the article, and I'll admit that while I like the melody and lyrics, I hate the vocal processing. But still! My brother is in Texas Monthly magazine!

That's interesting, just when I think it's going one way it hangs a left and ducks up an alley we me trying to keep up.

I'm always amazed at people who can talk that way Do they just sit around, thinking up stuff like that to say, or is their brain actually wired taht way so that's what they are actually thinking at the moment?

Excellent. I straight up liked that. It got a little over-produced at the end but is right in my daughters wheel-house musically. She did her first college radio show Friday night and this would have fit right in.

I dunno how much is wiring vs. habit, but he has fully inhabited that persona for sure. He's actually a lot better than he used to be; he'll make normal conversation in social settings and only go all supreme bullshit metaphysical if you prompt him. But if politics comes up, he'll definitely do a fair amount of railing against the Man and all His Institutions.

If we didn't look so much alike, no one would ever believe we were related. Which in itself is funny--both he and I think we don't look much alike at all, but fucking everybody and their dog says we do. He was once recognized alone in our neighborhood as my brother by people who didn't know I had a brother.

Tell her to play it, he'll kill for any kind of exposure at this point.
