Canned corned beef works quite well enough as the meat in Bolognese pasta sauce, too.
Meanwhile, around the house, we reckon pastirma substituted for Armour brand Chipped Beef would do nicely for creamed chipped beef on toast.
Yes and Mike gave me a deer camp recipe for canned beef. Just add canned hominy, well that saves peeling the damn taters anyway. No SALT. Black pepper ok. For SOS I just use ground round.

I've et a fair bit of hamburger SOS, and while it's reasonably filling, I don't think it's a patch on the chipped beef, which has a piquancy the Midwestern crumbleburger in white sauce lacks. The meat, in short, needs to be seasoned with something having a bite, to offset the blander starches that are most of the rest of the dish.

It's still Christmas here :p We're about the do the supper of whatever the hell anyone wants just so long as they vaguely had vegetables when we stuffed ourselves at 3pm

(Menu: Roast beef, yorkshire pud, roast potatos, sprouts, asparagus, mushrooms, real gravy followed by Christmas pud (covered with brandy and set alight), brandy butter, brandy sauce or cheesecake for the wimps.)

I can't believe I just ate ...

... big juicy stir fried fresh shrimp in sweet peppers with assorted fresh vegetables on rice with a coconut shake that was made from coconut milk, coconut flesh, and ice blended together, eaten at a bamboo table under the shade of palm trees five meters from a white sand beach with attractive lasses wandering by... for a total price of 90 baht ... just about US$3.
