I met a little girlie...
Since I started working where I work, my cow-orker John has mindlessly sat and recited two lines while working, and pounded out a little beat at his desk.
I met a little girlie (bish bish bap bish-bish-bish bap) her hair was kinda curly (bish bish bap bish-bish-bish bap) It's not annoying, I don't mind that part of the open floorplan office... I finally asked him, why does he constantly repeat those particular lines? "I don't even know! It's something my dad made up." "You dad did not make that up." "Yeah! My whole life growing up, he'd be eating dinner and he'd just start saying it." "John. OMG. Guess what." Lyrics to Run DMC's "Tricky" And he sat stunned, as he watched the video. 30 seconds in, lifetime revelation, for twenty years he has been quoting Run DMC and did not know it. We all LOLd! |

I might not stop giggling until tomorrow!
Ever since my parents got back together, I've been dealing with the fact that I suddenly started calling my father Daddy-O. Drove me crazy trying to remember where I'd gotten it...and then there it was on a DVD. I'm not seeing the right one pop up on youtube...it's an old Foghorn Leghorn 'toon where this little brown rockabilly rooster is trying to horn in on the henhouse. At one point he disguises himself as an orphan to trick Foghorn into adopting him. So I'm telling my dad this, hoping he's not gonna throw a huge fit about being nicknamed for an obscure cartoon character even though he's always been a Looney Tunes fan. He kinda half-grins and quotes the damn scene from the damn cartoon--Foghorn picks up the basket and the banty rooster goes "Da...Da...Daddy-O!" "Tricky" indeed! |

I like that you don't mind this little aspect of the open floor plan. Run DMC is the icing on the cake.

BigV, I know my chicken hawks and I'm not talking about Henery (after whom I named my first pet cat, back around 1976).
http://tinyurl.com/hhrzzmw THERE he is! The cartoon title is Banty Raids. |

And the title card. He does look like Henery in that they are both small and largely brown, but Henery rarely if ever wears shades, never has a soul patch, has a smaller beak, and has much larger feet. Also, the banty has a very adult, slightly raspy speaking voice lower in pitch than Henery. |

And last but not least, Undertoad, I'm still giggling at your co-worker, just imagining the look on his face. Having sat a completely unprepared biker down for a viewing of the cult classic The Forbidden Zone, I've seen that look.
Not The Forbidden Planet, with the beast from the id and Robbie the Robot and all. I mean the psychotic feature film centering around Richard "lead singer of Oingo Boingo" Elfman playing Satan. He does a GREAT rendition of Minnie the Moocher, iirc (haven't watched it in a while). |
