![]() How would you like to live in a cave? Or a mine? Or a roller rink? Or, all three? The latest owners have converted this one-time cave/mine/roller rink into a three bedroom home, complete with spring and city water. The only hitch? It is in Festus, Missouri. Well, someone has to live there! ![]() Photo: caveland.us (more info here as well) Thanks Yahoo News! |

If you don't like living in Festus, use the back door. It's in Indiana.

It's kind of a regression in human nature to move back into the caves...

Why didn't they make the front so it matched the rock face? Not hard to do and would look better than a house that collided with a cave.

That's because we've seen it before when it was for sale on ebay

You can see a rockface anywhere. How often do you get to see a house that's collided with a cave?

Looks like this house might go directly underneath the neighbors' houses. Depends on how far back it goes, and it looks like it goes pretty far back.

From caveland.us: "Surveys showed our boundaries right where they were supposed to be. There were no problems with the cave running under four other properties. All properties were deeded accordingly. Whereas normal property deeds give an owner rights to their land extending all of the way to the core of the earth, the four properties above the back of the cave are deeded with surface rights only."

When, however, the lay public rallies round an idea that is denounced by distinguished but elderly scientists and supports that idea with great fevor and emotion -- the distinguished but elderly scientists are then, after all, probably right.
