It is a very normal thing to hear in the South, especially Atlanta, an exchange similar to the following take place:
"What do you want to drink?" "I'll have a Coke." "What kind?" "Moutain Dew, please." Years ago when I moved from up North, this boggled my mind and took me years to get used to hearing it. Thankfully, I've grown accustom to hearing, and even saying, "please". |

Mrs. Dallas used to work for Arco Checmical Co. We had great fun with their injunctions to use "polystyrene foam", as opposed to "styrofoam" (a competitor's trademark, I believe).

At work I use a lot of Macintoshes, and the microsoft- though not as prevalent as on an IBM PC- is still there.

In journalism school we got rulers whacked across our palms for screwing that kind of thing up. Actually, we didn't have to put the marks, but we did have to capitalize words like Dumpster and Realtor. To this day, that kind of thing peeves me. It seems like "realtor" would be sufficient, but NOOOOO. That doesn't capture the vast IMPORTANCE of being an effing RŽeŽaŽlŽtŽoŽrŽ.
