Truckers started it.
Used to put it on ice an chug it.
They also used to put it in a big cup with a Jolt cola, Turbo Coke... did it once.
Espresso has about the same as VERY strong coffee. The high pressure of the water makes-up for the time.
That was true of the older machines, the new ones have MUCH higher pressure.
The home machines take longer and actually make much stronger Espresso.
(I worked in a Bistro as a chef and ran the machines for a while, we had a class)
