Actually when I went and though about a new name. The word "periwinkle" came to mind. As a kid I had a friend named "Pericles" but at school he wrote it "Perry"... thus, "Perry Winkle" *shrug*

Perry -- it's a fine name. I didn't mean to be unkind.

periwinkle was my favorite color as a little kid. I had a crayon named that, so I thought it was cool.

Periwinkle was one of my favorites, too. I think it's still in there...

There's a color called 'manatee' now.

from the crayon website:

In response to educators' requests, “Prussian blue” is renamed “midnight blue.” Teachers felt that children were no longer familiar enough with Prussian history to recognize that this crayon color referred to the famous deep-blue uniforms of Prussian soldiers.

Well gee, they could have used it as an opportunity to, I don't know...educate? You just never hear much about the Prussian and the blue anymore.

Goodness no, referring to somebody as Prussian would be prejudicial and racist because it suggests they are a different color..... blue.

Prejudicial? I don't think so, and I'm of Prussian descent. Heck, blue is just what I am. Wait, that's just true of my bollocks.

So I googled Prussian Blue and wondered why there were so many sites. It's also the name of that Nazi girl child band. (sort of looks like a nazi smilie)

Maybe those teachers saw this coming, and didn't want Nazi crayons. Sad, it's such a pretty color, too.

Prussian Blue is a beautiful breed of cat. Actually, they have a thick grey undercoat, and the tiny white tips on the surface give them a bluish hue.

I think that's a Russian Blue. I had a cat that looked like he might have some of the RB in him.
