OK. Everybody PM me if you want to do it and indicate which poker sites you'd prefer to play at. I'll try to come up with a consensus and propose a couple of dates.

Yeah, it happens. One of my biggest single-hand losses was when I had a full house and the other person pulled a straight flush with a miracle card on the river/

I was playing on Yahoo Games the other day at work and somehow accidentally won money and ended up ahead ...

I have a hard time with the whole betting logic part.

watch how other people bet. if they fold alot and when they finally stay in on a hand and bet strong, try and figure out what it is they're holding in their hands. pair? suited? high off suit? you can only improve with practice. in the play money section of PP or even on sites like pogo.com, people are a little looser with their "money" but when you play with real money, it's easier to learn, albeit a little more painful on the pocket book

In a nutshell, you bet money when the amount you stand to win is larger than your odds of winning. So if you're a 3:1 underdog and you have to bet $1 to stay in a $5 pot, it's a good bet. If the pot is only $2 then it's not.

Needless to say determining what your odds of winning are is an inexact science (it depends not only on your cards and the cards on the board, but also on what cards you think the other players are likely to have and how many players are left to act). |
