Rusted Root showed up at
The Choconut Inn 15 minutes from my house! If you aren't from a rural area you may think that is pretty small potatoes, but everything is a minimum of 40 minutes drive time from here. A couple very good local bands warmed up the crowd.
Band of Strings featuring a guy I went to high school with on banjo and naturally a smiling bassist and
Falconers a really talented trio with a great lead singer. RR played a nice long set and held back Ecstasy for the encore. I always wonder about bands that have one big album and stick around, but they did have a lot of other material that was darn good. I was watching the faces of the musicians closely when they played Send Me on My Way. The place blew up and they lit up after all these years. I was glad to see it. It's funny, I saw them 20 some years ago before they climbed the charts.
The crowd was really interesting. We had locals, bikers, Ithacans, hippies, lesbians, hillbillys, high school kids, and lake people. Weird mix but you need that to fill a country bar. Interesting sidenote, the women tended to be very drunk but the guys not so much...
