My first thought for the squares was salt/sugar crystals, but they tend to have much sharper edges, these look 'soft'. The second pic made me think of a spice mix, with the squares being the salt, but I still think the salt would be sharper, and I am not sure if the 'floor' is part of the thing or not. Plus the scale would be different... Hmmmmmm. This is going to make me hit my forhead when we find out what it is, I just know it.

if those cubes are their talent, then the scale bar IS right...


Oh, and salt is a 'mineral'. The other things in the mix are probably vegetable, but weren't in the original pic.

The other stuff in the picture is condimentary to the main subject, the cubes.
Dunno why the corners are rounded, just from being shaken around I suppose.
