Hi-jack Bruce. Ever see 2 hoods made into a boat?

I've seen pictures of that, but up on the mountain boats weren't a priority, Buster.

Today, a little snow, just about as deep as the tire sidewall, then sleet/ice in all it's sparkly wonder. Stayin' home today.

we got 'bout 8 inches, then freezing rain, and then winds. Snow Day #2 for me--all the Uni's are closed. Naturally, I'm not taking advantage of this by studying, reading and beginning my paper. I'd rather panic next week.

(I'm off from work too. Though I think I'm got a cold or something. I posibly wouldn't have gone in anyway.)

I'm playing around on the computer, doing casual housework, looking in my cupboards for things to eat and assigning chores to my son.

I should be reading about "nulls" and "fails to reject the null" and how is Poe's Dupin like a monster? and sign language.

We got 1-2 inches last night. My neighborhood streets were a bit slippery, but once I got out, it was smooth.

You people who get to take off work just because it snows really annoy me. Along with folks who get to take a lunch. And don't have to avoid spit and feces.

Hmmm. These should probably go in the "Shit that Annoys me" thread.

That being said, I'm not at work tonight only because I am prepping to go to a conference tomorrow. I will be in Baltimore for the weekend, and without internet access, unless I can convince someone with a laptop to let me weasel some time from them in the wireless lounge.

Why do you think I am switching? Health care employees are treated in an inhumane way.

I'll bet there's lots of health care employees stuck at the various hospitals, catching snatches of sleep in crappy beds and gulping bits of bad food because 3/4 of the replacement staff can't get into work. Oh, sure, they'll send a 4x4 out for some employees, but the ones stuck there are STUCK there until a replacement gets in. If you work 12 hour shifts and are forced to stay...it's just ugly.

Come on, Wolf! Take responsibility for your own situation. Demand lunch! Strike if you are forced to go to work in the snow! Insist on a HAZMAT suit to protect yourself from any substance that has been in someone else's body! Or just get a different job that doesn't involve all those things. Don't just be a victim - go postal, or something!

On the way to work this morning.

The secondary roads still covered, ice on the trees and wires.

Just got back to work after 2 days of closing. It's really quite rare; in our staff meeting Monday we were reminded that we "never close." HA HA.

Had plenty of food in the house, but needed cigarettes (I know, bad habit.) Walked the mile or so to the nearest gas station, waiting for a car to slide off the road and run into me. I could have driven, but I wanted the steps for our "10,000 steps a day program" we are running. Walking through the drifts, still snowing and blowing...it was great exercise. Well, lost the pedometer somewhere in the snow. Natch. I liked the walk though. Saw all the ducks on the river, and a Blue Heron.

Found out we were closed yesterday, so promptly got to the store to stock up on beer. As much as I hate-love this job, I felt pretty spoiled the last two days knowing there are people who have to go to work no matter what the weather. Wolf, you have my greatest respect!

I enjoyed the time. Shoveled my carport and sidewalks, talked to my many elderly neighbors. If I ever won a smallish lottery, I would just pay off the place I have, get a decent car, and spend my days writing and piddling around the house. AND get internet so I don't miss you all for two days!
