Bravo Kerry on Iraq. (I saw the speech via email from the campaign today). and thanks for the links Tony. The hawk case for Kerry is great- its kind of suggesting the play of almost a good cop-bad cop scenario- the power of a new leadership to move forward with a new leverage. And I'm intrigued to hear the liberal case for Bush. Free the world- offensively?

Even if Bush does poorly in the debates he still has an ace in the hole.

I just read an article that sought to explain Bush's poor debate performance on his 'bubble' of protection and the fact that his prior engagements were all in front of friendly audiences, troops who are not allowed to protest, or other 'safe' mediums. He also hasn't had many press conferences and the press is too cowed to ask hard questions in the few he does hold. With so much at stake and the shock of his first performance, I doubt that Bush will tank in the second debate. I am sure that the nations business ground to a halt while the president was re-coached in debate tactics. Of course, I wonder if his debate coach has the guts to really recreate the ferocity of the possible attacks from Kerry. "Now Mr. President, you do understand that when I call you a deceitful, clueless puppet of special interests and pawn of your advisors, it's not really me saying these things? Uh, sir, could you please not look at me like that?"
