28 days later is a remake (in spirit) of The Omega Man, imho.

Not that that's a bad thing but it might help give you an idea about it.

I liked it because I thought it was a good story but I didn't find it scary in the least - especially since its billed as the most terrifying movie since whenever.

I did think the cinematography (some kind of speeded up stop-action technique) was excellent. That type of filming is what made the Saving Private Ryan battle scenes look so real. In 28 days, they used it primarily to film the zombies and it is very effective. And their eyes! Best zombie eyes ever.

Not enough gore for a zombie movie for my taste but a lot of suspense. It even had a few sad moments.

I recommend it - overall, thumbs up.

Ok - I can watch the real life shows with blood and stuff like Trauma life in the ER and the operation shows. Hell - I get pictures every day of people's injuries. But - I cannot watch scarey movies. Gives me nightmares and completely freaks me out for days. Go figure. Maybe my real life is scarey enough

I am exactly the opposite. I can watch the blood and gore movies for days on end. But a single frame of one of those emergency room shows turns my stomach.

I dig both.

But one thing that really made me go EEEEEUUUW.

HBO just ran an episode of their "Autopsy" series, in which the host, Michael Baden, who is/was the coroner for the Capital District of NY State actually performs an autopsy.

Most of it I thought was way cool, although they were kinda wimpy with the camera angles and didn't show anything too gooey ... but the sound when he broke the corpse's sternum to remove the breastplate and then the *ssssssssuck-POP* sound that results when the skullcap is pried off were just ICKY.

Jeppers Creeped me like nothing else!!

I know this is pathetic, but the scariest thing i have ever seen i believe is that mainstream movie Jeepers Creepers. noone else i know thinks its scary but even now (several months later) if i hear someone even humming that godawful song (jeepers creepers whered u get those peepers) i get chills and have to go have some warm milk to calm me down. that final scene where the young guy has his "peepers"removed, just sends me to bits. nightmares for years i reckon!!

Scariest movie I never saw. This "journalist" covers the first Clinton election but keeps the chacter issue to himself so he can write a book (followed by a movie) after the election.

as far as zombie movies go ....

Anything by fulci. night of the living dead, dawn of the dead. 28 days later was great - especially with the eyeball scene with the music crescendo.
