Should all things always be evil?

I think life would be very stagnant if all things were equal.

What I mean is that it's the inequalities in life that encourage us to strive for something better.

This isn't equal either.

I think you should strive for something better.

Uhuh...now just wait a sec while I make my leg a bit more comfy. It's a bit sore from being pulled too much.

Really now, only republicans ask this question. It comes off as whiny.

Seriously, I don't live in the States or have much exposure to the subtle nuances aside from what one gets through the media and TV...I had some friends who taught in the UK for a couple of years and they mentioned that the ultimate insult was for a kid to say "your mum" to someone (presumably their teacher). Given that the friends in question had no context for it, it meant absolutely nothing and therefore had no effectiveness.

No. We are by our nature unequal. Some excel, some fail, and most putter around in the middle. Education, particularly in the early grades, has suffered ever since they started teaching to the lowest common denominator, rather than stratifying classes/groups and teaching each group to the highest level of their ability, and working to push past that.

I keep thinking of Vonnegut and the weights, the clunky shoes, and the noiseboxes.
