Johnette Napolitano is *brilliant*. I was privileged to see Concrete Blonde on the occasion of the touring of their best known album, "Bloodletting". Tres cool.

Bullshit. Today, Natalie Merchant is the ONLY major artist that makes INDEPENDENT releases. Period.

Go Natalie!!!!!

Zep was always a RAII Bitch.

"Much to the anger of their recording label, No Doubt released a fan favorite 2nd album "Beacon Street Collections" recorded in their garage. The plan worked as Interscope Records finally relased Tragic Kingdom for 10x Platinum success.

No Doubt Anytime.

That's what I thought, except it was 25 years. Nothing decent since 1979. I mean NOTHING.

Until Tragic Kingdom.

Man, I love the 80's, back off. 11 of the 29 bands I listed are 80's bands. The 80's brought us the funny yet serious excesses of hair metal, the glory of shred and speed metal, the pure genious of Dire Straits... Okay, yeah, a lot of it absolutely sucked, but it's better than Grunge or Numetal or Mallpunk or Emo or some other shitty genre.

U2 get done over by Talking Heads....pffffff
I thought Aerosmith would make it further.
The Femmes going down to the Beatles makes my skin crawl
Santana not making it against the Yes...but in my own defence, I havent heard anything by Yes...so shoot me.

Violent Femmes going down to The Beatles was a mercy killing. Let's run this poll again in 35 years and see how many #1 Femmes tunes are still getting airplay.

Ah...but at the time they had it, their hair was *fab*...

Trouble with music is...none of it is "better" than any other, therefore, neither is any group necessarily "better". I like Violent Femmes. I just like the Beatles better, and listen to them more.

I know, I know...I am old and pathetic, but...

Bullshit.

Music is generational alot of the time. See, I dont listen to The Beatles now and if I happen across one of their songs on the radio...I skip it.

But, if I had been around in those days, you could prolly guarantee I would be one of those screaming/crying/fainting bimbos

Beatles > Femmes.

I am currently in the area of thailand destroyed by the tsunami in '04. Things still arent quite back to normal. But out in the middle of "third-world" thailand, I heard the Beatles at dinner last night.

Violent Femmes? No way.

Course, I keep hearing that annoying O-Zone song here...

Damn, today in Sunnyvale Target the musiak was playing The Beatles in a foreign language. The sound was bad and the store loud. Rockette and I couldn't decide if it was Spanish or Japanese. "Bi Tok Shu, ya ya ya! Bi Tok Shu, ya ya ya! Bi Tok Shu, ya ya ya! Bi Tok Shu -- ramma doe shi wahn ka fah. Ya ya ya ya ya......" El es fuego. NOT.
