I should go next month. It'll be my 52nd time. I started as soon as possible 2 weeks after my 18th birthday, and only had to pause because of job-related traveling to countries on the red list.
Once in a while I get a call if I'm sure to keep with my rendezvous as they're low on A (-), which is my blood type. This WE I gave a sample to be registered in a stem cell donor bank for people affected by leukemia. I think it's one of the most civic acts in our society. So congratulations to all of you who share (and to myself too :-) )

I had to cancel my last donation appointment two weeks ago because I was going to be out of town. They keep calling asking me to make another appointment. But all the appointments are during the work day. That may work for them, but it doesn't work for most of the population.
I wonder how truthful they are being when they say that they have short supplies of certain types of blood. Seems like they are always saying it is an urgent need. If I really is an urgent need, I might take vacation time to go donate, but if it's the standard marketing ploy, that's not happening. I'll donate in the fall. |
