From your ipod. Go to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Add Account>Google.

Tell it your google information and Bob's your uncle.

I love this setup because I'm at a computer most of the time. And using a real keyboard is still faster. But I may need to be reminded of an appointment wherever I am.
