The Pissed Off Parent Thread

I figure just to be fair ...

I'll start.
Son1 says he isn't going to a MAJOR family gathering out of state tomorrow.
I cannot emphasize how big a deal this is.

um... *adult* son?

You and I may be "Dad" forever, but they stop being children... um... five minutes before you want them to do something "mature".

Fuckin fuckhead ungrateful prick. Yeh I'm pissed and just venting my frustration here with what I would NEVER say to him. He's just being really immature and I'm WAY past tired of it. This crap started over the summer and seems to be worse than ever. This trip was planned months ago. Today things changed. COCK!

Son1 has made me SO proud SO many times, then pulls this crap outta nowhere.

What can I say, Classic - I would never do this to my parents.
But I bet I have done far worse in other ways.
Helping myself liberally to their alcohol until they felt the need to lock it away is just one.

I know you are angry.
And you should let him know at least you are disappointed in him this time.
But you do love him. Remind him of that once you've finished the bollocking.

I'm sure there must be something behind his decision. I can think of two possibles:

1. if he's under 25 he hasn't fully developed his rational faculties and is probably just not thinking so much about cause and effect.

2. If this is the son from the car wreck he may not be up for all the attention he will probably get. Sometimes people just want to be normal and not defined by their illness or disability or amazing recovery. It may not even be that son, so I don't know.

I'm sure with some active listening on your part you may find out the answer. Maybe he's just not up for seeing aunt Flo eat egg salad with her mouth open one more time.

Maybe he's just being a teenager. That's it's own catagory in my experience. lol

Maybe he's not interested in watching all the attention D will most likely get from all the long distance rellies. Could be a bit of jealousy there. He hasn't really been the focus for a bit of a while now has he? That's not a criticism classic. It's just the way it is sometimes when you have a high needs child around.

I'm sure you'll deal with it when you've cooled down enough not to act like a teenager yourself.

In my experience teenagers aren't much fun at family gatherings anyway. All sitting in the corner, listening to their walkmans and that crazy rap music...

My Son2 is pissing me off.

See? We have something in common now!

He treats my home like a restaurant/hotel. A cheap one.

TALKING ABOUT IT CHANGES NOTHING.

I'm biding my time.

Did I mention I only found out about my daughter's post-dance sleepover plans when she didn't come home last night? After I'd forced myself to stay awake waiting for her?

I was really pissed off with Aden last night. He was giving me attitude for some unknown reason, so I confiscated his phone, iPod and laptop.

I've found the laptop, but I'll be buggered if I can remember where I put the phone and iPod. lol

I guess his punishment is going to last a little longer than I'd planned.
