According to traditional sources, marshmallow was regularly used to boost the male libido and even as treatment for impotency. Botanically known as Althea officinalis the marshmallow plant is found in southern and Western Europe, western Asia, and the northeastern region of North America. It has been used for centuries as a source of food and a medicinal herb. The Latin appellation ‘officinalis’ was in fact used for those herbs in ancient Rome which were officially recognized as medicines and stocked at an apothecary’s. Marshmallow is not to be confused with the confectionary marshmallow, most popularly roasted over campfires in modern times. I think she misunderstood...
