I agree with UT. Order of operation.

terms inside brackets
exponents and roots
multiplication and division
addition and subtraction

so 48÷2(9+3) = ?should be written as

48/2(12) = (12x48)/2 = 576/2 = 288 (my keyboard doesn't seem to have a division sign)
