Certainly the world would be a better place if many of the people who profess to be Christians would actually live up to the spiritual principles involved. Certainly for fundamentalists of all sorts it is indeed a place to hide. But don't paint all Christians with the same tar and feathers. Many Christians do their best to live up to the teachings of their faith. Just because some fail badly doesn't mean they all do.

Well, you see, humans are suckers for anecdotal evidence. When every single "God person" you know is some kind of passive agressive psycopath, living in a make-believe world where they have no accountability for their actions, and simultaneously (to the height of hypocrisy) they constantly spew a barrage of hateful, unsolicited advice directed with extreme malice towards anyone who doesn't live up to their ever-shifting standards (even other Christians who aren't "doing it right" apparently) but keep in mind this is all done "in love" and because "God put this on their heart" and other bullshit statements which are designed, again, to absolve them of all responsibility and somehow, in their mind, make their "crazy world" rules apply to everybody. So, yeah, when that happens, it gives you a bad opinion of crazy God people. Again, anecdotal, but very convincing.

Sorry, disregard that. I know that some people get non-crazy value from the whole religion thing. I don't understand it, and to be honest it's all semantics to me. I do believe in a kind of God. A very different kind of God than that which I ever see bing discussed. I believe that one tru thing can be said: people who feel like they have to talk about God this God that all the time, they are probably using God as an excuse for their own bullcrap.
