Oh yes, advocat! That's like a training drink for children.
Or perry if you want something lighter. Babycham, you know (barf! barf!) Or creme de menthe at a push, but you can put that in some cocktails so I guess it's still valid in a noughties drinks cabinet...

The German chocolate,Pineapple upside down and bundt cakes were popular in the 70.s Red food die was banned at that time so we didn't see red velvet cake for awhile.
Black Forest Torte. ![]() But if what you mean by style is a theme cake then what about a Watergate cake with cover up frosting? http://www.mom-mom.com/watergate_cake.htm oh and there were dump cakes. YUK |

Yeah. It does sound like 70s to me.
Looking back, it's hard to remember if the stuff I remember from the 70s was 70s stuff or was just kids' stuff. I was a kid back then, and surrounded by kids' stuff. I remember a funfetti cake which had like little gumballs or something mixed in it. |

I remember it more from the 60s. But I think it went well into the 70s.

My mom always made red velvet cake for my and my brothers' birthdays, because we liked it so much. I should dig up a recipe.
I love pineapple upside-down cake. As far as Black Forest cake goes... it doesn't say 70s to me. It says "I'M A BLACK FOREST CAKE!! GO GET A KNIFE SO YOU CAN STAB ANYBODY WHO TRIES TO INTERRUPT YOU WHILE YOU SNARF ME IN ONE SITTING!!!" |

Ok then i'm going with pineapple upside down-cake. In UK, it had maraschino (?sp) cherries in the middle of each pineapple ring. Here too?

It was the first cake we made in cookery (later Food & Nutrition)
With three children learning at two different schools, Mum was heartily sick of it by the time my bro brought home the last one.
