The house was built in the 60's and those are the original windows.

Nice! er.. Ice! Yeah.
It's been a bit chilly here as well, got down to something like 3 degrees last night, -18 with the wind chill* (10mg salt taken simultaneously). Makes my current lift op job real fun.

I was feeling sorry for myself that it was in the teens this morning in Virginia, and I had to break out my down parka, but it's downright toasty here compared to you guys.

Last week we had -12 and -14. I was afraid to know what the windchill was.

We have a coat rack mounted on the inside of the front door. During that cold spell last week the coats all froze to the door.

Soooo, not looking forward to soccer practice tonight. It's only 70 right now. It could be as low as 60 by then.

I hope you got a wood stove! I'd hate to pay your heating bill.

it was 40 this am in Baton Rouge and windy too. I had to walk a mile to the truck repair place early and then walk back again. Guess no one here believes in courtesy vans.

chilly for this area.

On friday, all the doors on the jeep were frozen shut, but the kids and I managed to break in and head out. But then, when we were leaving the gym that night the lift gate was frozen shut. The boy had squeezed the handle, disengaging the latch, but neither one of us could pry the door open. About half way home I hit a bump and popped it open.

Pico, when I lived in upstate NY our window looked like that throughout most of the winter. The windows in this old house wouldn't survive that I'm afraid...

20 degrees (13 degree wind chill) and here comes a guy on a motorcycle!
He must have wanted to go somewhere, really badly.

Yesterday our neighbor stopped by to deliver a gift. He was wearing shorts and a short sleeved shirt. It was 2°F.

I had that happen when the trunk of my old Accord froze shut. I hit a speed bump, it flew open; I groaned an looked for a place to pull over. I went over another speed bump and it magically closed and latched itself. Whee!

Okay, I don't get your funny foreign temperatures, but I know it's pretty damned warm here. I went down to the Spar today in a vest top, with my Mum's fleece over the top. I was on my way to a walk round the park, but halfway I had to take the fleece off. Sleeveless in December! Although I do recognise I am the hottest person I have ever encountered (living down South and all)

All I can say is that the spare room where this computer is, is still the coldest room in the house. Hence coming in here to check the Cellar after my morning shower/ drying my hair - to cool off!). This was my bedroom growing up and we regularly had ice on the inside of these windows. Another 60's house. Although we have double glazing and central heating now it's still the room that gets the least light - only when the sun is setting. Why oh why oh why didn't the estate builders take into account topography and the path of the sun when building houses? The majority of houses on this estate face East/West. And there are so many with vertiginous gardens. Ridiculous. Lazy, lazy brutalist architects.
