Are frozen veges a lot cheaper over there than fresh?

You can, but only if there are four of them.

You're missing out on important nutritional fibre and stuff.
You know, if you don't eat lentils you wont shit. And if you don't shit, you'll die.

I buy fresh when my money comes through (every fortnight) but the vegetables and the money always run out before I'm paid again. So I have the frozen veg as backup. A mixed bag of peas, carrots and cut beans - generic accompaniment veg. I also keep a bag of casserole veg for last minute soup making, and because cutting swede makes me homicidal. And then just peas and sweetcorn which I never buy fresh to be honest.
Because I'm only cooking for one I do believe it works out cheaper and healthier.

"Fresh" veggies from supermarkets are very rarely really fresh. Most often they have been in storage at 1-4 degrees C for a week or two, even more sometimes, and often with special gases (in low concentrations) to delay aging.
Frozen veggies are usually frozen within a day or less of harvest and, surprisingly, often arrive at the dinner table with more nutritional content than "fresh". However, freshies from your own garden or a local farmers' market ... that's the way to go , if you can manage it.

Yep, farmers markets are good. That's the way I prefer to get my veges, and they're usually surprisingly reasonable in price.
