IF this was true.....which i seriously doubt.....why would it matter? exactly?

LJ i don't know if his story is true or not. either way i'll sleep fine tonight, but here's my perspective.
it is obvious you adore your kids, i know this because i've seen how you've posted about them for a few years. but imagine for one minute that tragedy visited you and you lost one of them. later on some cellarite, not knowing about your tragedy, made a crack about your kid. it wouldn't change your life or send you spinning off into depression, but you'd probably feel a twinge of pain. if you decided to point out what happened to your kid and the same person decided to take another jab you'd probably be a little pissed.
i'm just saying that, true or not, maybe this is a line too far.

if this was true.....and it was you......

would you really cheapen your sister's memory by using her tragic death as a trump card in the first round of an internet spat?

should i respect someone that would?

I doubt he was being manipulative like that. The dude is obviously very sensitive about losing his sister, so much so that the mention of her in a derogatory way touches him off emotionally. What's wrong with that again? Just leave it be LJ.

would i? no. would some 18 year old? maybe. either way, i'm not here to judge you, if you are comfortable saying it, say it. you're a big boy. i was just putting that out there as a "what if?"

I actually said something like that in person years and years ago only to find out that the dude's mom had died less than a week before. I felt like complete shit. So for me personally, i don't hit that territory unless it is someone i know really really well and know the status of the family members that i'm about to include in my trashing.

No LJ, were sorry because we are all so jaded to you being a constant dickhead that we don't realize that not everyone else is too.

It appears a public apology would be cool; at the very least for one's own sake, if not that of anyone else. Doesn't sound like buttoning up and being defensive is called for, either.

tink! piiiiing!!!!!! tck pooinnnng! ping!!! :sound of particles of reality bouncing harmlessly off of lj's inpenetrable armor of comedy denial:

That last one was *particularly* masterful. Not just deflected, but caught, and slingshotted back in the spitting face of reason.

Of course, LJ called out a photoshop of his kid as a line too far last week.

The photoshop was apologized for and deleted, as I recall.
