I don't believe they did anything illegal. They were upfront with their credentials (i.e., their identification said "Joke!"). I doubt Australia has laws against impersonating a motorcade of jokers.

If I walked up to the White House gate and used a slice of balogna as ID, and they let me in, what have I done wrong?

Demonstrating the incompetence of the people charged with keeping Australians safe is a very respectful thing to do for all Australians. Hard work means nothing if it doesn't accomplish its goal. This act of "disrespect" might actually wake people up and make things safer (not bloody likely, I know).

Evidently the broke one of those laws they pass to cover anything not already covered.
