On second thought, the place on Hampshire St. is not that close to the T. You could walk it, but you probably would not want to. (It's near The B Side, so if you decide to go there, get a cab.)
A Cambridge House sounds like it might be a good bet. Or Atrium House, but that might be a bit of a walk to the T as well. Or maybe Newbury House which is bigger than you are looking for, but it's right smack on Newbury St. so you'll be sure to not miss anything. Here's a list of some options around the place. |

Well, I leave tomorrow for Boston and I'm excited! Fresh snow and thats ok. I found a small place in the South End, walkable to the convention site and stuff. My top destinations will be:
Harvard to see the glass flowers, Library to see the Sargent murals, Trinity Church to be amazed, Gardner to see the heist frames!, Museum of Art for a marathon art soak, Symphony Hall for a concert, Fenway park to touch the outerwall, North end for rambling, hanging, and lots of nibbling, oh yeah, then the actual conference. Ha. I'm hoping for a creative battery recharge. See ya later! |

Well I did see holy grail murals in the Boston library... The place I stayed was perfect for me, The Encore B&B, in a South End row house. Highly recommended as an alternative to soul-less corporate hotels and frilly B&Bs. Cool decor, historic architecture, safe walking to all the stuff I wanted.
Highlights: Alfred Brendel playing Mozart with James Levine and the Boston symphony, Great food, the best coffee of my life at Cafe Vittoria and Italian sweet treats in the North end, and the wonderful strange beauty of the Gardener Museum. (get in free if your name is Isabella). I wanna go back during baseball season! Now I know where to stay. I had a great salad and raspberry lime rickey at the Other Side, so thanks for that tip- and yes they were hip, but nothing is hipper than a hungry old bat with sore feet! And I also really liked a cafe called the Garden of Eden- great soup and sandwiches, right by my digs. Didnt get to MIT...just have to go back! |

March Boston Pics
Here are some overdue pics of Boston.

I'll actually be in Boston (Cambridge, to be exact) next week. It's great to be able to search the forums and find great recommendations like this.
