Any burden you may have is self inflicted. But, seriously, I need positive feedback in the workplace. If people don't appreciate my work, I feel bad about myself. I tie my self worth to my career too much, and in jobs I have had some low lows and high highs, never a dull moment.

Still, it's a shame to put yourself through that.

For me, all I need are the basic, normal human considerations, which doesn't happen at an arrogant company. As for co-workers, actually, in 1999 I managed a group of 5 software engineers. One guy was way too needy. Even though I met with each of them every day, this guy left the building with me each day and spoke in the parking lot with me for a half hour before I could go home. After a while, some people in the company noticed and we talked about how this guy was draining my energy. There is a big difference between Needy and Normal. EVERYONE deserves a certain amount of feedback in the workplace.
