Normally, you want to share things that other people will find interesting, useful, funny... Know Your Audience.
Here are my figures of merit of whether or not I'm going to read a given thread:
Is the title interesting or relevant to me?
Who started it?
(How long it is) / (How old it is)
Who was the last responder?

Every book may be worth reading (to someone, at least), but I'm only going to read the ones that appeal to me in some fashion. It's all about the marketing. The Cellar may be a big place, but it is still a limited market.
