Zippy, I think what Bruce said is pretty right on. Sometimes I make light to cover up a feeling of not really knowing how to say what I'm feeling.

I know that kind of heaviness can keep going through generations, like the McCoy posted earlier. But, even if it weren't an accident (I think it must have been, considering that people just don't get away with murder as often as they might hope) it doesn't mean the grandson would automatically be a bad egg.

Not to say that there aren't "infamous" families, but I think they are rare.
