I'm not sure that they would have demoted a male general for shoplifting. It just doesn't seem to have the feel of something they would do. Anyone who has been in the military may know what I'm saying. It's not a fact, it's just a really strong hunch.

Of course not! Male generals don't shoplift! If anything, they forget to pay! More likely, the cashier forgot that the general actually did pay!

TS -i'm not sure about the military you were in, but the one i've spent the last 13 years in would bust a male general right out of his shorts for shoplifting. i've seen generals tossed for an on-base DUI, and another for having an affair with another married officer. shoplifting? hell they'd be gone without question.

I got out of the Navy in early '93. It just seems that they would have found something more manly to bust a male admiral for.

Like I said, just a feeling (hunch) and things do change.
