best meal of my life...
Dman it, I couldn't find the posting drunk thread, so this'll have to do...I know it's still winter, but I was craving some grilled steak...After 2 glasses of chianti, we finally fired up the charcoal grill. Then, I made a 10 oz prime rib and arsen grilled a 10 oz porterhouse. I also made home fries for me and onion rings for arsen. Then I had two more glasses of shiraz and a gorgeous beautiful steak dinner, and I am completely lit, but I just wanted to share the best dinner of my life with you guys

he he he. I just read my previous post and realized how uncalled for all the hair comments were. For some reason, my self esteem revolves around my hair. It's a twisted issue that I've been struggling with for 3 years now. Wish me luck.
By the way, I'm sober now-damn it. |

Sat night we went to Red Lobster for my birthday dinner, and I can honestly say the only thing that would have made my meal any better is if it had been free. The iced tea wasn't too weak or too strong, the croutons on the salad were awesome and actually plentiful, their cheddar bay biscuits are never a dissapointment, my broiled cod was out of this world tender and moist, and the vanilla bean cheesecake was to die for. For the rest of the night I was in heaven, full to the brim, but not uncomfortably so.
We grill out all winter long, just pull it into the garage when the weather is really bad...

I went to Mortons on Friday. Can't say it was the best meal of my life, but they are the best steak in the area. Yum, yum, yum.
Can't wait 'till grilling season when I can make my own. Can't beat Morton's but I can sure do as well as most of the other steakhouses. |

I can definitely say that mine was better than chili's! I believe a good piece of meat needs only a little pepper and butter, then salt after it's cooked and rested. perfect! Arsen, on the other hand, insisted on rubbing steak seasoning all over his, then dousing it with balsamic vinagrette, THEN, after it was cooked, A1 sauce. I call him the condiment king. But he did like it...

He comes from a culture where a lot of the meat was sold past its "sell by" date.

I'll marinate or season most steaks. But every once in a while, I like to go to Whole Foods and get a fat, fresh steak. I take it directly home and toss it on a charcoal grill and cook it to medium. Eat that with a good baked potato and a couple of beers to wash it down. The only seasoning involved is the salt on the potato skin. Good, good stuff.
