Damn good question, and a question that people outside the US frequently ask. I don't get it either.

And I dislike cooked mushrooms even more than I dislike guns. They're slimy, taste like dirt and have the consistency of BOOGERS.

Not to get into the whole peta thing but I read this as you've eaten dirt and boogers and dislike them, yet you're a vegetarian and wont eat meat?
